DEPENDINGON
depending on is a real time produced audiovisual sculpture.
The sound of the sculpture is generated from the video images from a number
of cameras filming the spectator.
Just when you notice that you can influence it, it switches, and to keep on
interacting you have to move.
It´s about creating and destroying a relationship between the object
and the spectator.
Standing in front of the video sculpture you notice that you are filmed for
a few seconds. You walk around it and then you find out that the filming switches
between the cameras. After that you become aware of that every move you make
generates a sound. Then to interact with the sculpture you are forced to move
around it. There is certainly an interesting realtionship here between the
object and the spectator where the sculpture forces the spectator to move.
In fact this is simply a very smart model of depicting the realtionship between
the spectator and the sculpture and there are sevreal similarities here to
the works of the minimalists in the 1960’s and 70’s.
